A few words about myself

Hello, I'm Tom Magerat, a young electromechanical engineer specialized in energy, with an additional master's degree in business. Welcome to my website. I created this space to introduce myself, share the different projects I'm working on or have worked on, and give you a glimpse of who I am, what I enjoy, and the vision that drives me

I would describe myself as a naturally optimistic person who believes that every problem has a solution. I enjoy taking initiative, tackling challenges with motivation, and approaching them with an entrepreneurial mindset.

I really enjoy putting theoretical knowledge into practice and building things with my own hands. Whether it is designing, prototyping, programming, or testing, I find great satisfaction in turning ideas into real and practical solutions. Many of the projects presented on this website reflect that hands-on approach.

Since I was young, I have been fascinated by understanding how things work and by technology in general. My main interests include energy systems, electric motors, power electronics, batteries, robotics, and space exploration.

I am particularly interested in helping develop practical solutions to today's energy challenges. I would like to use my skills to have a positive and meaningful impact on the world around me.

Real-time operation of the high-voltage power grid, ensuring system static and dynamic stability, frequency control through load-generation balance, voltage regulation, congestion management, and N-1 security compliance.

Prototype Development Engineer

BYS · Brussels, Belgium

Developing a physiotherapy training device prototype as part of an early-stage startup project alongside my full-time role. Responsibilities include 3D modelling in Fusion 360, component selection, and motor-control implementation with position measurement using an absolute encoder over SPI communication.

Master's thesis focused on the design, FEM optimization using COMSOL, construction and testing of an induction motor. Developed a test bench with a Raspberry Pi based closed-loop motor control system and a custom-built analog/digital interface circuit.
